The webinar will afford you the opportunity to learn about some of the issues to consider when planning a family and how pregnancy can impact people living with arthritis. The world of medicine has changed in the last 20 years and no more so than in rheumatology. In line with this advice to those who are keen to plan a family has also changed. Link in to hear what about the current recommendations and advice in this area.
Our presenter: Dr Claire Barrett studied medicine at University College, London. After working in London for several years she completed rheumatology training in Queensland. She was appointed as Visiting Medical Officer at Redcliffe Hospital in 1996. She initiated a public specialist rheumatology service; this has expanded to 4 rheumatologists, a advanced trainee and a nurse.
Dr Barrett is involved in education of medical students, registrars and GPs. She is a past-chair of the Metro North Hospital and Health Service Rheumatology Sub-stream being passionately committed to improving access to high quality rheumatology care for all patients in QLD Health. She chaired the Australian Rheumatology Association (ARA) Therapeutics Committee from 2009-11, the Regional Rheumatology Committee from 2015-17 and currently chair of the Policy and Advocacy Committee. She is a member of the ARA Database (ARAD) steering committee and current vice-president of the ARA.
