“I was devastated when my daughter was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis
– she was only nine years old.”
Every year hundreds of children in Australia are diagnosed with juvenile arthritis (JA) and related conditions. Children as young as six months have been diagnosed with this painful condition – there is no cure and many children will live a lifetime with the agonising effects of arthritis.
Many families of children with juvenile arthritis contact MOVE’s Help Line seeking support and information about their child’s condition and what they can do to help them manage at home and school. Quite often they just need a friendly ear.
“Watching your child struggling to get up and go to school because she’s in so much pain is heartbreaking. Her rheumatologist suggested I call MOVE. They were great.”
We’re constantly working to produce high quality, informative and up-to-date resources for kids, families and teachers.
We want to be able to do much more to support children and their families. Some of the projects we have planned include producing resources for primary schools throughout Australia; parent information evenings and camps for kids with juvenile arthritis. This is a great opportunity for them to get together with others to share experiences and get a break from the routine of enduring painful injections and endless doctor’s appointments.
These are big and important projects and we can’t achieve them alone.
We need to raise $25,000 by the end of May to meet the demand for our services. Can you help us?
Your donation today will make a difference to the lives of these children.
